Ryan Griffen will be monitored throughout the week to determine his availability for Sunday’s clash against Melbourne, after experiencing back spasms against Port Adelaide on Saturday.

“Ryan landed awkwardly during the game and his back went into spasm at the time and we were unable to settle that,” Club Medical Services Manager McKenzie said.

“He is getting some treatment today and we will see how it settles over the next 48 hours.”

Jordan Roughead will undergo scans today to determine the extent of his shoulder injury after the key defender landed awkwardly in the second quarter.

“Jordan had an incident to his shoulder that was causing him some problems,” McKenzie said.

“We have sent him in for an MRI today and we will get the results later today – we will see how it settles again over the next 24-48 hours.”

After copping an accidental hit to the face during the Bulldogs clash, Jarrad Grant will undergo the standard concussion testing by medical staff ahead of Sunday’s clash against Melbourne.

“Jarrad did get a hit across the face and that caused some concussion so he was unable to return to the field,” he said.

“We will go with our protocol which means he will get tested later in the week by the doctors and that will give him the availability to play, hopefully.”

In the VFL Daniel Pearce has also been dealt an unfortunate blow, re-injuring his Medial Collateral Ligament in his knee.

“Unfortunately for Daniel he has had another episode where a player has fallen across his knee and he has reinjured his MCL on that left knee,” he said.

“He is getting some scans this afternoon as well but it looks like he will miss a few weeks at least.”

In brighter news Adam Cooney is progressing well with the rehabilitation of his hamstring injury and has begun running.

“Adam has started running again and he is feeling comfortable, so we are happy with where he is at,” he said.
