Jake Stringer and Stewart Crameri look set to return for the Western Bulldogs when they take on Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

Stringer was a late withdrawal from the side that faced GWS, due to illness, while Crameri missed due to adductor tightness in the week leading up to the match.

Bulldogs GM of Football, Graham Lowe was confident both players would be available for selection at the end of the week.

“Jake’s come in well this morning, certainly a lot better than he was over the weekend so he’s definitely putting himself in a position to be available to be selected this week.

“Stewy having the weekend just to let things settle down with the tightness he’s had across his hips has been important.

“He’s certainly come in well today so we’ll be looking to work him through to the back end of the week with a view to fully training and making himself available for selection.”

Liam Picken and Marcus Bontempelli both suffered some tightness following the match, and Lowe confirmed a decision would be made later in the week on the availability of the pair.

“Liam’s come out of the game with some hamstring tightness so we’re just confirming how he’s going to respond to training... and we’ll make a decision later in the week as to his availability.

“Marcus was subbed out with some adductor tightness so again, we’re looking to confirm how we responds during the week.

“He’s certainly come in well today but… we’ll take every day we can across the week to make sure he’s good to go.”

While Footscray enjoyed a 66-point victory against Frankston on Sunday, there were three injury concerns out of the VFL match.

Zaine Cordy will miss three to four weeks after fracturing his thumb in the win, while Matt Fuller suffered a heavy knock to the head in his return game from injury.

“It’s disappointing for the young fella (Cordy) with an injury to his thumb.

“He’s got a fracture there from the results of the scans and X-rays we’ve done this morning, so we’ll be looking at a surgical intervention there which will probably take him out for three to four weeks.

“It was great to welcome Matty Fuller back on to the footy field and he certainly started well.

“But after a heavy collision to his face, he’s got a fracture of his eye socket, so certainly it’s going to take him out for a few weeks, anywhere up to four at this point.”

Jack Redpath was the third VFL injury concern, after withdrawing from the match due to adductor tightness.

“Jack had some adductor tightness from training during the week, so giving him that little bit of extra time from the weekend in terms of not being available to play last weekend, puts him in the right place to be available for selection this week.

“Our aim with him is to work him through to train fully in the back end of the week, with a view to make himself available for selection.”
