LAST WEEK

A big finish to the home team saw the Bulldogs struggle on their trip west on Sunday.

Not only did the Dogs not get the four points at Subiaco, they also walked away without a player knocking up a Fantasy ton.

Jack Macrae was the best with 25 touches and 95 points while Lachie Hunter’s 92 points came from his 24 disposals. Captain and dependable defender Robert Murphy (91) ran off half back taking seven marks to go with his team-high 27 possessions.

After a quiet start, Marcus Bontempelli added 61 points in the second half to finish on 91 points.

TOP 5 SCORERS V WEST COAST

  • 95 – Jack Macrae (MID, $549,000)
  • 92 – Lachie Hunter (FWD, $440,000)
  • 91 – Marcus Bontempelli (FWD/MID, $484,000)
  • 91 – Robert Murphy (DEF, $439,000)
  • 89 – Jason Johannisen (DEF, $421,000)

ON THE RADAR

Matthew Boyd (general soreness) and Liam Picken (back) didn’t make the trip to Perth but are likely to return for this week’s game against the Kangaroos.

With a forced trade or two due to suspension and injury, Picken and Boyd will be popular inclusions in defence for the preliminary finals. Personally I will be choosing Boyd over Picken as he is $49K cheaper as I need to trade out the suspended Luke Hodge. This extra cash will allow me to upgrade a player in another position on my field.

If you’re needing to fund an upgrade, bringing in DEF/MID Roarke Smith for $123K could be the way to go so long as he is on your bench.

WHAT’S COMING UP

The Bulldogs take on North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

In round 21 last year, the Bulldogs fell short of the Roos with Marcus Bontempelli (108) the best of the boys from the kennel racking up 23 touches and two goals.
