Confidence is the key to the Western Bulldogs getting back on the winners list against Collingwood at VU Whitten Oval this weekend, according to AFLW coach Paul Groves.

The Bulldogs have lost their past two matches but Groves said he has asked his side to focus on what they can control against the eighth-placed Pies on Saturday night.

“I think we need to focus on the processes of winning games of footy and probably move away from the outcomes; are we going to win or are we going to lose, he told westernbulldogs.com.au

“So, what we can control in the games… there’s going to be a real focus this weekend on getting a bit of confidence back.

“We’re a good team, we’re just not playing with a high degree of confidence.”

Captain Katie Brennan has been named in the side alongside Meg McDonald and Lauren Moorecroft, while Rebecca Neaves, Jess Gardner and Courtney Clarkson have been omitted.

With the Dogs in fifth place on one win and two losses, Groves said the teams’ destiny is in their hands.

“We control our fate, Groves said.

“We just have to keep winning and we need to get the four points in every game to keep the season alive, but how we get the four points comes down to how we approach it during the game and the processes.”

The Bulldogs defeated Collingwood 10-points during the Australia Day practice match in January.
