The answer’s no, the title is was a bit of shameless click-bait, but there is a story to some ink on the skipper’s chest, in which former Dog’s ruckman Luke Darcy unpacks in the latest Talking Footy Podcast.

It’s the beginning of the century and rookie Bob Murphy has been drafted by the Bulldogs and arrives at the Club complete with a tattoo of Elvis, much to the amusement of his new teammates, who thought it looked more like former Swans coach than the king of rock n’ roll.

Bob Murphy picks up the story:

“The boys used to get stuck into me for it looking more like Paul Roos and we’re at the airport because we’d played Sydney in Canberra, so both teams were at the airport and I was sat next to Paul Roos in the airport lounge just waiting, and I thought someone will twig here,” he said.

“Then Ben Hudson, after Sydney had got up to leave and Paul Roos is down trying to get on his plane and Ben jumps up, drags me down and chases Paul Roos, and makes me take my top off in the middle of the Canberra airport.

“And Paul Roos says ‘isn’t that great? My players won’t listen to me and you’ve got a tattoo of me.’

“It was a horrible moment.”

Darcy later does admit that in fact it is a good likeness of ‘The King’ after a fresh viewing.

“It’s more Elvis than I ever thought, actually I take that back,” The Duke said.

In the 44 minute interview, they discuss a range of issues from the day Darce knocked Bob out at training, the unusual character that is Nathan Brown, the great sprays of Terry Wallace, the ‘other language’ of the young Dogs and his relationship with Luke Beveridge.
