The Western Bulldogs are now 7-0 in games decided by less than two goals in the last twelve months, with coach Luke Beveridge lauding his side's ability to 'dig-deep' when it matters.

North Melbourne skipped out to a 29-point lead in the early stages of the third quarter last night before the Dogs slammed on the next five to wrestle back the ascendancy.

They would eventually hang on by three points in front of the 42,814 fans there to witness the first ever Good Friday fixture.

"I thought we were outstanding in the end to win that game," Beveridge told reporters post-match.

"Things weren't on our terms for most of the night and when you think that in that quarter that maybe it was going south, again, our boys dug deep and found a way."

The Dogs did it the hard way after losing Tom Boyd to a suspected delayed concussion in the early stages of the game, and Beveridge was left with only three players on the bench.

"I think, under duress, you've got to find a little bit more from the 21 left, so that is part of it, and probably heightens the satisfaction that you get because it was pretty early in the game too, he said.

"I thought Tommy [Campbell], we had to ask a lot of him, and I thought he did a very, very good job as almost that sole ruck, but we needed to patch up some holes with some of the other boys and they did well."

The Dogs are now 3-1 with trips to Sydney and Perth to come over the next month.
