State league affiliate: Footscray (VFL)
This weekend: Footscray v Essendon - Friday, June 9, 7pm, VU Whitten Oval

Tom Liberatore had 21 possessions – second-most for the Dogs – seven of which he pumped inside 50, and he laid seven tackles in Footscray’s four-point win over Essendon at Whitten Oval on Friday night.

Ruckman Tom Campbell (17 possessions and a goal), Bailey Williams (17 and a goal), Lukas Webb (a team-high 23 touches and a goal) were all impressive, as was the versatile Zaine Cordy, who was the Dogs' only multiple goalkicker in a low-scoring game with two, both of which came in a tense final term, his second major proving the matchwinner.

Midfielder Mitch Honeychurch continued his good form, helping the Dogs get the ascendancy early, collecting 12 of his 19 touches in the first half.

Key forward Jack Redpath kicked the one goal while youngster Patrick Lipinski, on return from a shoulder injury, slotted the Dogs' first goal.
