Jed Adcock had kicked 59 goals over a 206-game career going into last night’s game against Carlton, but it’s fair to say that number 60 would have had a decidedly different feel to the others.

It was six and a half minutes into the opening term when a bullocking Jake Stringer fired off a handball to a waiting Adcock who leant back and snapped truly from 25 meters out, directly in front.

It was his first goal as a Bulldog and an exclamation mark on what the former Brisbane Lions captain says was a ‘nerve-racking’ week.

“Even though I’ve played quite a few [games], it’s probably different again playing your first game for a new Club, he said.

“It was nice to get a goal early in the quarter, probably [helped me to] settled in pretty quick but it’s nerves through most of the game really.

“You’ve just got to settle as quick as possible.”

Adcock spent time forward before shifting to the backline in the latter stages, the 30-year-old telling westernbulldogs.com.au in the rooms after the match that he’ll do whatever the team needs him to do.

“It’s part of my role that I’ve got to adapt to, and there’ll be times when I’ve got to play though all three lines.

“But it’s something I enjoy, getting around the ground a bit and playing all the lines.”

The Dogs played out a hard-fought contest against the Blues on Saturday night to eventually emerge 36-point winners.

Adcock said that while the game ‘wasn’t pretty’, it’s the kind of game that’s inevitable over a long season.

“A win’s a win,” he said.

“But we move on pretty quick and it’s on to next week.”
