We take a look and what was being talked about in the press box during last night's win over the Suns in Cairns.

The Cairns Post

In front of 8509, in the only game in Far North Queensland this season, the Dogs claimed their third victory in a row in Cairns against the Suns at Cazaly’s Stadium.

The Dogs led by 42 points at the long break before they pushed it out to 48 at the final siren.

Koby Stevens (34 disposals, eight clearances) combined with Marcus Bontempelli (29 touches) to give their side first use of the ball, while Mitch Wallis and Clay Smith were unlikely top goalscorers.

Dogs youngster Josh Dunkley was lively in his return from a stint in the VFL as was Liam Picken, who has slowly turned himself into a potent attacking option in 2016.

The Age

The Bulldogs, bigger, stronger and just better, controlled the play, and after two bursts of three goals straight in just five minutes in the first term, controlled the scoreboard, too.

Liam Picken got them under way with a great dash around a forward pocket then snapping truly, before Clay Smith reminded people again just how big an asset he may be to the Bulldogs' for the rest of this season.

The [Gold Coast] stand-ins battled manfully, but the Bulldogs' top-tier players gorged on clearances (36-26) and contested ball (132-115) and victory for them never looked in doubt.

Koby Stevens (34 disposals, seven clearances) was their leading possession getter while Mitch Wallis and Clay Smith kicked three goals.

Tom Boyd also made an encouraging return and was mobbed by teammates when he kicked a monster 50m set-shot goal to start the third quarter.
