The Bulldogs will finish their pre-Christmas training block with a training camp on the Victorian Surf Coast this week, returning to Lorne for the second time in as many years.

Taking the opportunity to break-routine and train away from Victoria University Whitten Oval, the players kicked off their first day with a running session at the Lorne Football Club, before heading to the beach for strength and boxing sessions.

Half-back Shane Biggs told westernbulldogs.com.au it was good to return to a familiar area to complete their final training block of 2016.

“There’s some good and bad memories here, mostly good but a few tough memories when you walk down the beach and remember doing push-ups (in sessions here last year).”

“It’s really good to start (pre-season) the same way we did last year, and continue the journey that we’re on.”

Biggs said the playing group had embraced the physical challenges of the camp’s first day.

“It’s been pretty tough, as we expected, but all the boys are going pretty well.”

“We love training back home, it’s what we know, but it’s really nice to get out here and have a swim and a run, and change the scene up.”
