When you travel to Adelaide Oval, the first thing you need to do is to quieten the crowd.

Easier said than done, perhaps, but when Luke Dahlhaus slotted the Dogs’ first just 98 seconds into the match, the visitors had ticked their first box.

Almost seven minutes went by before Robbie Gray answered for the Power before the Dogs slammed on three straight through Marcus Bontempelli and four-goal hero Jack Redpath.

Suddenly the roar of the ‘Portress’ was reduced to an uncertain hum.

Speaking to westernbulldogs.com.au in the rooms after the match, Caleb Daniel said that the crowd is something the players are wary of in Adelaide.

“The Port crowd is pretty loud and they get around them so it was a pretty hostile environment.

"[But] the boys stuck fat, worked hard and we’re really happy to get over the line," Daniel said.

The middle stages of the game were frantic, with the lead switching hands multiple times before the Power took a nine-point lead into final break, the locals finding their voice again.

The Bulldogs would answer with three straight to open the final term, before holding on to win by three points, solidifying their place in the top four.

“We started off really well and the crowd dulled down a little bit, and [then] the crowd came back into it at the end of the game.

“But we got the win, which is what we came for.”
