19-year-old Patrick Lipinski will become the 1000th player to pull on the red, white and blue of the Bulldogs when he debuts against Hawthorn this Friday night at Etihad Stadium.

The former Northern Knight was a second round selection in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, 28th overall, and has impressed at VFL level, collecting 33 touches and taking seven marks against Essendon last weekend.

Ruckman Tom Campbell has been recalled and will play his seventh game of the season after recovering from an abdominal strain, while Matthew Boyd returns for his 292nd game for the club.

Travis Cloke (general soreness), Jake Stringer (hamstring), and Tory Dickson (omitted) will all miss.

Mitch Wallis, Fletcher Roberts and Mitch Honeychurch have been named as emergencies.

Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge said Lipinski came back into calculations after recovering from an early season collarbone injury.

“He’s 100%, he’s come back in and performed to the level again to provoke that thought in the match committee,” he said.

“Patty is more than half forward, wing type at the moment, he’s got most things you need from that sort of player, he covers the ground well, his skills are quite good.”
