With the home and away season completed, Western Bulldogs midfielder Marcus Bontempelli says his side will “realign” ahead of their finals campaign.

The Dogs returned on Saturday night from a three-point loss to Brisbane, but Bontempelli said the playing group’s focus must quickly shift from that loss, to their elimination final against Adelaide.

“It was a pretty tough day, we probably made it harder than we needed to for ourselves.

“We didn’t really play the way we have for most of the year and play Bulldogs football in the best way that we could have.

“We do have to shift pretty quickly to next week, obviously it’s the biggest game a lot of us have played in with a young team, we’ll have to really get rid of what’s happened on the weekend… and shift to next weekend’s game.”

Bontempelli was the Dogs’ best on the day, collecting 28 disposals, 15 contested possessions, eight clearances, five tackles and two goals.

He has confirmed in season 2015 that he’s not afraid of the challenge, stepping up on big occasions, and the 19-year-old says his side are confident they can step up this weekend in their biggest challenge of all.

“It’s a fast realignment back to Bulldogs football, we’ve got a quick turnaround to Saturday and all we can do is get back to playing Bulldogs footy.

“We’re confident we can match it will all teams in the comp.

“Obviously playing them earlier in the year and getting the job done is an added advantage, but it was so long ago and teams have changed the way they play, so we’ll review them as a new team, like we’re playing them for the first time.”
