The Western Bulldogs are pleased to confirm the following appointments to the Coach Selection Sub-Committee that will drive the process to appoint the Club’s new Senior Coach:

•    Simon Garlick - Western Bulldogs Chief Executive (Chair)
•    James Fantasia - Western Bulldogs Football Manager
•    Chris Grant - Former Western Bulldogs Captain
•    Tom Harley - Former Geelong Captain
•    Geoff Walsh AO - Western Bulldogs Board Director

Bulldogs Hall-of Famer and revered figure in AFL ranks, Chris Grant, played 341 games for the Dogs in a stellar career that spanned 18 seasons.

The former club captain earned three all-Australian honours during his time at the Kennel as well as twice winning the Charles Sutton Medal for the Bulldogs’ best and fairest player.

Grant has also forged a successful career in media providing expert comments on ABC Grandstand Sport 774.

Geelong defender Tom Harley played 198 games over 12 seasons at the top level.

A dual-premiership captain, Harley’s strong leadership skills — widely celebrated in AFL circles — have earned him the AFLPA’s best captain award in 2008 and All-Australian selection as Vice-Captain in the same year.

A Geelong Hall-Of-Famer and Bachelor of Commerce graduate, Harley was appointed General Manager of AFL NSW/ACT in 2011 and is an accomplished sports broadcaster with Channel 7.

Harley and Grant bring the extensive expertise required to ensure the Coach Selection Sub-Committee identify and secure the best possible candidate for the Club’s Senior Coaching role.

The Sub-Committee will identify and recommend a preferred candidate who will then present to the full Board.

Bulldogs’ Chief Executive, Simon Garlick, who will Chair the Selection sub-committee, said today that the Club was extremely pleased to have such extensive experience involved in the process.

“It is terrific to have the calibre of Chris and Tom involved in this critical process.

“Both these individuals bring impeccable playing credentials, obviously, but also outstanding records in leadership, cultural development and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

“We will undergo the most professional and thorough process possible to ensure we find and appoint the best available candidate as our next Senior Coach.

“I want to assure our dedicated Members and Fans that identifying and securing our next coach is an absolute priority and will be done as soon as possible,” Garlick said.
