Season in short

From the rookie list to Norm Smith Medallist, it’s been quite the journey for Jason Johannisen.

Started the season in sparkling form, polling six Brownlow votes in the first two rounds of the season before his season was temporarily derailed by a round four hamstring injury.

Returned in typical JJ style in round 15 after nine weeks on the sidelines with 20 disposals, four rebound 50s and four tackles and the winning goal against the Swans at the SCG.

His ability to break games open with his pace was crucial to the Bulldogs’ premiership winning mix.

The stat that mattered

His 25 kicks in the Grand Final were eight more than any other player on the ground.

What they said

“Early in my career I struggled for self-belief, but at the minute I’m just sky-high and just believe I can play some good footy for the team and help them get a win,” he told the Herald Sun

“As soon as Bevo came in to our club his first thing was about building relationships with the players.

“It’s just the care he has for everyone and he knows how to get the best out of us.”

Gram of the year

Grand Final parades aren’t for everybody.

Grand Final Parade was a little boring
