The Western Bulldogs are deeply saddened to learn 1954 Premiership defender Dave Bryden passed away this morning, aged 86.

Bryden played 147 games for Footscray between 1947-1955, including the Club’s sole Premiership.

Representing Victoria in the state side in 1951 alongside Charlie Sutton proved another highlight of his nine year career.

The Wonthaggi recruit was known as ‘miner’ having worked on the coalmines before moving to Melbourne to join the Footscray side.

The Western Bulldogs would like to send their sincere condolences to Dave Bryden’s family during their time of loss.
