Veteran defender Bob Murphy will not require surgery to his injured elbow and is scheduled to return to full contact training in just 2-3 weeks.

Murphy received the positive news from the specialist this afternoon after his review.

Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie said Murphy had healed well and wasn’t far away from re-joining training with the main group.

“Bob has shown a good degree of healing over the past fortnight,” McKenzie said.

“We will transition him into full contact training in 2-3 weeks, with a view to have him ready to play not long after that.”

Murphy has played 249 games for the Club after being drafted in 1999.
