Season in short:

Bursting into 2013 with 18 disposals, eight tackles and two goals against Brisbane in round one, Dickson showed his mettle throughout his second season on the big stage. Forced to contend with a ruptured ankle ligament for a big part of the season, Dickson found some impressive form on return. Dickson played in the Club’s last 10 matches, booting 20 goals and proving instrumental in the Bulldogs’ late season revival. A memorable six goal haul against Adelaide in round 21 marked a standout display. Despite playing just 13 matches, Dickson finished equal third on the Bulldogs goal kicking table.

Stat that mattered:

Averaging 2.6 goals per game in the final seven rounds, Dickson enjoyed a purple-patch of form to end his second season. After spending half of the year on the sidelines through injury, his ability to hit the scoreboard in the second half of the year was crucial – including five multiple game goals.

What they said:

“It’s hard work – you’ve got to be on your game at all times and just care about everything you do [like] a pure professional. I’ve tried to be more professional in terms of recovery, more ice baths, more treatments – that’s one of the main things I have taken out of my first year.”

Pre-season focus:

A continued focus on Tory Dickson’s endurance is likely if he is to continue pushing into a high half forward role. Spots in the Bulldogs attacking half will be hotly contested in 2014, so the 26-year-old will be eager to carry his late season form into next year.
