A mix of outside dash and competitive grunt has been added to the Western Bulldogs side this week, with Brett Goodes, Jason Tutt and Koby Stevens all given the nod to face the GWS Giants in Canberra.

After spending last week on the sidelines with a wrist injury, Goodes has been recalled to bolster the Bulldogs’ defensive stocks and provide rebound out of the back half.

In his debut season, the 29-year-old has added a bigger body in defence, averaging 20 disposals per game - as well as leading the Club in rebound 50 kicks.

“Great to see Goodesy working his way back into the team, he’s had a week off, it’s one that he needed,” Assistant Coach Shannon Grant said.

“He will certainly be a lot better off for it, as will we.”

The addition of Tutt and Stevens will add to the flexibility of the Bulldogs lineup, complimenting the run and carry of Ryan Griffen, Adam Cooney and Jack Macrae.

The highly competitive Stevens has been restricted to the sidelines in recent weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury during the Collingwood game but is poised to make his return this weekend.

The 22-year-old has already made strides in his development during his ten games this season, including a 31 possession, three goal performance in the Bulldogs’ win against St Kilda.

“Koby comes back after having a couple of weeks off as well - the two guys will add a lot of run and a lot of spirit as well,” Grant said.

Tutt gets the opportunity to play in his home town of Canberra on Saturday, providing pace and  endurance to the side, after impressing for Williamstown throughout the season.

“Jason Tutt has been working his butt off recently down at Williamstown in the last month and thoroughly deserves his opportunity,” he said.

Captain Matthew Boyd was the only forced change ahead of round 15 with a fractured cheekbone, while Lachie Hunter and Nick Lower have been omitted.
