Western Bulldogs captain Matthew Boyd will miss three to four weeks of football after fracturing his cheekbone in an accidental head clash against Melbourne on Saturday night.

Boyd underwent minor surgery last night after scans yesterday revealed the fracture.

“Matthew had a minor fracture to his cheekbone, he required minor surgery last night which has gone well,”  Medical Services Manager, Andrew McKenzie said.

“We expect him to miss three to four weeks.”

In other injury news, Tom Young (calf) and Fletcher Roberts (quad) made successful comebacks through the VFL after lengthy absences.

Koby Stevens (shoulder) and Brett Goodes (wrist) look to have benefited from a week off, as they put their case forward for selection this week against the Giants.
