Hard-nut midfielder Clay Smith has been named to play his first game back from injury on Sunday for the Footscray Bulldogs in the VFL against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

After injuring his AC joint in Round 10 AFL clash against the Gold Coast Suns, Smith has been cleared to play in the first match at Sunday’s double header.

The 21-year-old will be a handy addition to Footscray’s onball contingent as they search for their seventh consecutive victory in as many weeks.

Geelong currently sit ninth on the VFL ladder but have won three of their past four games and will be eager to test their skills against the Bulldogs for the first time as stand-alone sides.

The Cats have taken the points against only two top eight sides this season, with a three point victory over Port Melbourne in  round nine the most recent.

The Bulldogs will be without their leading goal kicker in Jack Redpath who has been promoted to make his senior debut, however the addition of Liam Jones will provide a strong focal point for the Footscray side.

Final teams will be named Friday evening following the confirmation of the AFL line-up for the double header at Simonds Stadium.
