While closing the door on a 12-year career in Brisbane was tough, rookie utility Jed Adcock believes he has a bit yet left in the tank and is excited about his move to the Kennel.

“A lot of people talk about playing at the one club for life, [and] I was always hoping that would be the case but it wasn’t to be and you have to move on pretty quick.

“I was lucky enough to get an opportunity around here and hopefully I’ve got a few years down here.I’m still pushing to play a bit more finals footy and hopefully one day play in a premiership.”

Like a lot others in 2015, Adcock admired the Club from afar and thinks that the young Dogs have a chance to make an impact in September, but he’s mindful of how difficult it can be to make the jump from a finals appearance to a genuine top four contender.

“We know everybody starts at 0-0 come the end of March and it’s a long way to September, so there’s a lot of hard work to go and we’ve got to improve a long way.

“There’s still a big gap between where we finished last year compared to the top 4 teams, but we feel if we mature properly and improvement happens like it’s meant to across the board, then that will put us in a good place.”

“If we can continue to improve and continue to grow, we feel like we can be up there come September.

As for where he fits into the 22, he thinks the versatility he displayed in the latter part of season 2015 is what appealed to Luke Beveridge and Bulldogs List Manager, Jason McCartney.

“I ended up playing forward for the second half of the year, had a couple of really good games forward, so I think the Club, and especially Luke probably saw that I could play across the whole ground now, forwards, mids and back.”

It’s a big change for any player to switch club later in his career, and moves don’t come much bigger than from Brisbane to Melbourne, but there has been one perk, at least during the preseason.

“It’s been nice coming into training at 9 o’clock and it’s a balmy 25 degrees compared to 35 degrees and 100% humidity and you’re losing 4kg per session
