Western Bulldogs forward-come midfielder Caleb Daniel is the round four nomination for the NAB AFL Rising Star Award after another electrifying performance against Carlton on Saturday night.
The dynamic South Australian picked up 23 disposals and took seven marks in the Dogs’ 36-point win at Etihad Stadium
It wasn’t the first time that Daniel has troubled the Carlton defenders.
It was in round 14 last season that the 18-year-old arrived on the main stage with a scene stealing performance against the Blues, picking up 14 disposals, five marks and one goal after shedding the substitute vest at half time.
Daniel would go on to play 10 games in his debut season after being taken with the 46th selection in the 2014 National Draft out of Edwardstown in South Australia, via SANFL side, South Adelaide.
“It’s obviously been a long journey, but a pretty good one so far, he said on Monday afternoon.
“I’m really enjoying my time at the Doggies at the moment and hopefully that will continue throughout the year.”
Statistically, the 18-year-old Daniel has produced in a major way in the 2016 season.
He’s averaging 23 disposals per match, nine more than last season, 7 marks a game, up from two in 2015, and his average metres gained has lifted from 137.9 per game to 301.4 this season.
