The Western Bulldogs will go into Thursday night's final JLT Community Series pre-season match with a strong squad, with ten premiership players returning to the side to take on the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium this Thursday.

Captain Bob Murphy also features in the list of inclusions alongside Marcus Bontempelli, Matthew Boyd, Luke Dahlhaus, Lachie Hunter, Zaine Cordy, Fletcher Roberts, Tom Liberatore, Shane Biggs, Caleb Daniel and Jason Johannisen, none of whom played in last Thursday's narrow loss to the Brisbane Lions.

Speaking on radio on Tuesday morning, coach Luke Beveridge said that skipper Murphy is in excellent shape heading into the 2017 after recovering from knee surgery last year.

He's fit and healthy and I think he had a good start in that first hitout against the Demons a couple of weeks ago so he'll build on that."

Also included in Thursday night's squad is Travis Cloke, who impressed in his first hit-out with the Bulldogs against Melbourne at Victoria University Whitten Oval two weeks ago.

Beveridge said that the return of Murphy and Stewart Crameri in 2017, along with the addition of Cloke to the squad, will help the side stay hungry for success. 

"There's a whole range of natural forces that come into play, such as selection, even longevity [and the challenge] to stay on lists, that are important to keep everyone striving to do their best, so that helps.

"We hope all of those things drive them and they feel a sense of responsibility to each other as well.

"Ultimately it's up to [the players] but we think we've got the right environment to hopefully give us a platform into another tilt."
