We could just as easily have thrown in the following week’s fixture against the Crows in Adelaide too because after last season’s 1-5 start Paul Groves will be very keen to get off to red hot start next season, and with only a seven game schedule every win is worth its weight in gold. And what better way to start off the season than reeling off a couple of early wins against last season’s grand finalists?

The Round 4 clash under lights against the Blues was a candidate for the final slot here because who doesn’t love Friday night footy, but instead we’ve opted for the final round match against Melbourne at home. There’s every chance that there could be a bit riding on this one and where there’s real consequences attached to the result the game is just better. And then there’s the history we have with the Dees as women’s footy pioneers so that should count for something. Oh, and Saturday night footy goes alright too.
