The Western Bulldogs have extended their winning streak to four games, after defeating Melbourne Uni by 21 points at the MU main oval on Sunday afternoon.

Bailey Hunt opened the scoring for the Bulldogs, before Brooke Lochland and Ellie Blackburn followed shortly after with a goal each, providing the Dogs with a healthy 26- point lead heading into the second term.

Despite the home side booting two consecutive goals during the second term, the Dogs maintained control, taking a three goal lead into half time.

With three Melbourne Uni goals scored in the dying minutes of the game, the home side chipped away at the Dogs’ lead, before a crucial goal from Mickayla Ward secured the 21-point victory.

Speaking after the match, VFLW coach Debbie Lee said player growth and development is the primary focus heading into the latter half of the season.

“Making sure that our players are growing and developing, while giving them the confidence so that they can continue to play good football, that’s what we’re focused on right now,” said Lee.

The Bulldogs head home to Henry Turner Reserve, next Sunday 15th of July at 1pm, to host Essendon.
