Marcus Bontempelli will return to skipper the Western Bulldogs in game 100 against Port Adelaide at Mars Stadium on Sunday.

Bontempelli had missed the past fortnight of football following appendix surgery and joins an extended squad of 26 travelling to Ballarat, which includes debutant Fergus Greene.

The Bulldogs have also included Lewis Young, Shane Biggs, first-year midfielder Callum Porter, Fletcher Roberts and Patrick Lipinski in the extended squad, which will be trimmed to 22 by 5pm on Friday.

Luke Dahlhaus (ankle), Tom Boyd (lower back disc) and Billy Gowers (ankle soreness) were forced out through injury.

Sunday’s game will be the Bulldogs’ third match at Mars Stadium.  The Dogs lost to Port Adelaide in 2017 before defeating the Gold Coast Suns in Round 7 earlier this season.

The Power have had the better of the Bulldogs recently, winning four of the past six matches between the two sides.

The first bounce is at 3.20pm and the match will be broadcast on Channel 7 from 3pm.

Recently-retired forward Clay Smith will do a lap of honour to say farewell to the Bulldogs faithful from approximately 2.50pm, and the players will run out wearing ‘zero’ guernseys to support TAC’s Towards Zero campaign.
