Western Bulldogs AFLW forward Isabel Huntington has been cleared of serious injury to her knee.

It was initially feared the 19-year-old had hurt her ACL in her right knee after an innocuous training incident last weekend.

However, further scans and a surgical consult have cleared Huntington of damage to her ACL and instead revealed a minor knee sprain, keeping her on track to play a role in the 2019 season.

She had previously been given the all-clear to return to full training, after successfully navigating through the recovery period from the reconstruction she had in February.

Huntington will be gradually eased back into pre-season training leading into Christmas, before aiming to step up her preparation when the players return from their break.

“It’s a massive relief to know that I haven’t injured my ACL again,” Huntington said.

“Going through the emotions was a little overwhelming, so hearing that there was no major damage to my knee was great.

“I’ll be taking a conservative approach to training and working really closely with our strength and conditioning staff to make sure I can get the most out of my pre-season.

“I’m really grateful for the support I’ve received from the Club and our supporters over the past few days and I can’t wait to continue my training ahead of next season.”
