Tom Liberatore’s road back from injury is complete after the midfielder was named in the Western Bulldogs’ round one side to take on the Fremantle Dockers on Sunday afternoon.

Liberatore’s return will be a major boost to the side’s midfield brigade, while Luke Beveridge will also unveil his first debutant of the new season, mature-age defender Marcus Adams.

Speaking to westernbulldogs.com.au on Thursday, assistant coach Steven King said that it’s great to have Liberatore back on deck.

“We missed Libba for all of  last year and we forget how important he was to us prior to that.,” King said.

“We’ll certainly welcome him back, the things he does around the ball and inside the contest is fantastic for us.”

Along with Adams, draftee Josh Dunkley has also been named in the round one squad.

While Dunkley has been named on the extended bench, 23-year old Adams is set to debut in the red, white and blue after being named at full back after taking the long road to a spot on an AFL list.

“He hasn’t had the standard path to league footy that a lot of 18-year olds have, King said.

“He’s tried his hand at rugby, played a lot of WAFL footy, and he’s the ultimate professional, so you know he’s going to give you everything he’s got when he’s out there.

“I’m sure he’ll walk in and contribute straight away.”

Four changes have been made to the side that faced Collingwood in the final NAB Challenge match, with Tory Dickson, Jordan Roughead named in the extended squad for the weekend.

King said what a player like Tory Dickson brings to the side is an ability to have an impact without touching the ball.

“[Tory’s] trained really strongly for the last two weeks, so to have someone who kicks at 80% for goal back in, and he’s probably our hardest working forward defensively, he’s a big inclusion for us.”

Matthew Suckling will also make his debut on Sunday and Koby Stevens will make his long awaited return to football after missing the second half of the season with a foot injury.
