Inside the numbers

- The Western Bulldogs’ third quarter performance was as entertaining as football gets in 2016, the Dogs putting up 6.3 to the Hawks’ 2.2.  But it wasn’t all about flair, the Dogs dominated the contested possession count 56-29.

- Consistent with their early season numbers, the Bulldogs again had the ball a lot more than their opponents, amassing 418 disposals to Hawthorn’s 331.

- The Dogs had the Hawks’ measure in the centre of the ground on Sunday afternoon, winning the ball out of the middle 12 more times than their opponents.

Stat of the Day

Draftee defender Marcus Adams had 15 kicks, seven handballs and 15 marks, including four contested, in another imposing performance down back.

You can quote me on that

“It's my job to pick them up early, and we've already had that chat at the end of the game. We're definitely glass half-full, and today's just one of the 22 rounds and we've just got to look forward to next week.

"We'll dust ourselves off and process the emotional side of Bob's injury, and by the end of the week we'll be ready for the Blues."

- Luke Beveridge

“There were a couple of cough-ups and a couple of missed opportunities towards the end and unfortunately they got over the line.

“It’ll sting a little bit, but in AFL footy there’s always next week.

“We’ll get to training this week and get ready for Carlton.”

- Luke Dahlhaus
