From the turmoil of October 2014 to the march of the Bulldog army from Federation Square to the MCG, season 2015 was one for the ages.

Skipper Bob Murphy described it as ‘the ride of my footy life.  It was magical,’ and the cameras of producer/director Adrian Brown were there to capture every moment in ‘The Ride’, a documentary film available exclusively through the Bulldogs Shop.

“It started off as something different I wanted to do for myself and then the club got involved – it’s more as an archive thing than a moneymaking exercise,” Brown told SEN Radio.

“I guess it follows the Bulldogs’ season but I think it’s a little bit more than that – a bit about Bob’s journey through the year.

“You live it through Bob.  He narrates things as they happen and then following the season we got together with Luke Beveridge, Peter Gordon, Chris Grant and some senior players get the opportunity to look back in hindsight at those moments and say ‘here’s what happened’ at these pivotal points.”

SEN’s Andy Maher said that it’s the best football story he’s seen committed to film.

“It’s really good and the Robert Murphy stuff is as good as anything I’ve seen produced from a television perspective in footy ever, it was fantastic.”

The Ride grew from the ‘Sons of the West’ video series posted on the Bulldogs website throughout the season, but Brown says that there is plenty of extra footage that viewers will find captivating.

“There are some pre and post-match addresses that you haven’t seen and various points after the final is fascinating,” he said.

“There are also parts in there with Marcus Bontempelli and Jakey Stringer, so there’s various elements you wouldn’t have seen before.”

Bulldogs fans and footy fans alike will have an opportunity to purchase their own copy of The Ride this Saturday, 12 December at the Bulldogs Christmas Open Training Session.

Gates open at 8am and the Bulldogs Shop will be open until 2pm.
