The Western Bulldogs have secured key forward, Tom Boyd in a trade agreement with the Greater Western Sydney Giants (GWS).

Tom will make Victoria University Whitten Oval his football home for the next seven years in exchange for Ryan Griffen and pick 6 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

Bulldogs Chief Executive, Simon Garlick said today that the Club is thrilled to have Boyd join the Western Bulldogs.

“We are delighted to have secured a player and young man of Tom’s calibre,” Garlick said today.

“To attract last year's number one draft pick and standout elite player of the class of 2013 to the Kennel - is a major coup.

“We know our supporters will be thrilled to see Tom play along-side the likes of Liberatore, Roughead, Wallis, Bontempelli, Macrae, Stringer, Dahlhaus, Johannisen, Hunter, Hrovat, Smith, Roberts and Talia, not to mention Minson, Murphy, Morris and Boyd and the rest our dedicated playing group.

The Club will officially welcome the 200 centimetre forward to the Bulldogs next week.

Boyd's size, speed, leap and marking have long been regarded as close to the complete package in a key forward, also exhibiting strong leadership traits throughout his junior career.

He was also the TAC Cup’s leading goal-kicker in his bottom age year in 2012, and the youngest member of Vic Metro’s 2012 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships division one winning side.

Garlick thanked the Club’s former captain Ryan Griffen for his contribution to the Bulldogs.

“We wish him all the best for his new career with GWS,” Garlick said.
