Kirsten McLeod, Hannah Scott and Bailey Hunt brightened an otherwise disappointing day for the Western Bulldogs VFLW side, booting a goal each in the side’s 33-point loss to Melbourne University at VU Whitten Oval on Saturday afternoon.

A quiet first term saw Melbourne University take control early, leading the game three goals to nil, before a similar second quarter saw the Dogs remain scoreless for the first half.

The Dogs came out strong after the half time break, keeping the opposition goalless for the third term, while booting one major of their own.

Through Kirsten McLeod, the Bulldogs saw their first goal of the day and looked likely to cause an upset. However, it wasn’t to be, the travelling side running away with the four points.

Nicole McMahon impressed in the ruck, getting her hand on almost all hit outs during the game.

The Bulldogs currently sit at sixth position on the Swisse Wellness VFLW ladder, ruling out a finals berth for 2018.

The Bulldogs head to the Bill Lawry Oval next Saturday to take on the Darebin Falcons in their final game of the 2018 season.
