The Western Bulldogs have selected Celine Moody as the Club’s second rookie signing ahead of the 2019 AFLW season.

After a four-year break from football, the 21-year-old made 12 appearances for Carlton’s VFL Women’s side in 2018.

Arriving at VU Whitten Oval earlier this week, the daughter of prominent horse trainer Peter Moody told westernbulldogs.com.au that she is looking forward to kick-starting her AFLW career at the Club.

“I’m very excited to now be a part of such a successful club,” Moody said.

“This is the first opportunity I’ve had to play football at the highest level, so I took it with both hands.”

At 188cm, Moody predominantly spent time in the ruck and the forward line during the 2018 VFLW season.

“I like to see myself as someone who goes hard at the ball, and as a tall player, I see myself being pretty competitive overhead as well,” she said.

Western Bulldogs AFLW List Manager Michael Sandry said that Moody’s versatility and competitive nature were two standout qualities that led to her selection.

“Celine played a number of roles during the VFLW season, so we see her as a really versatile addition to our team,” he said.

“She is strong overhead and has a competitive nature, which we believe will see her transition well into our AFLW side.”

The Western Bulldogs also recently signed rookie Tessa Boyd ahead of the 2019 AFLW season.

The NAB AFL Women's Draft will be held on October 23 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
