This Saturday, before the AFLW home opener at VU Whitten Oval, the Western Bulldogs will be partnering with VicHealth’s “This Girl Can Campaign” to conduct a walk to VU Whitten Oval. 

Meeting at Footscray Station (McNab Avenue Side, adjacent to Platform 6) at 5:30pm, and departing promptly at 6:00pm, the Club is encouraging everyone to walk to the footy and embrace physical activity in a way that suits you, and get some movement into your day.

The walk will be led by participants Western Bulldogs Community Foundation’s ‘Daughters of the West’ women’s health program, and all are welcome. So bring your kids, parents, siblings, friends, and walking buddies for a Saturday evening stroll to the football.

There will be a marquee set up at VU Whitten Oval for all walk participants to visit upon their arrival complimentary fresh fruit and drinks.

The first bounce of the AFLW match between the Western Bulldogs and Geelong is at 7:15pm, and more information can be found here.

#ThisGirlCan x Western Bulldogs ‘Walk to VU Whitten Oval’ will also occur prior to the Western Bulldogs AFLW Round 4 (Saturday, 23 February v Brisbane Lions) and Round 7 (Sunday, 17 March v Carlton) matches at VU Whitten Oval.

When: Saturday, 9 February 2019 

Time: Departing Footscray Station at 6pm sharp to arrive at VU Whitten Oval with plenty of time before the 7.15pm game

Location: Meet at Footscray station from 5.30pm and walk to VU Whitten Oval together.  Meet on the McNab Avenue side of Footscray station next to Platform 6 at the bottom of the escalator (keep a look out for the ‘#ThisGirlCan’ signs).

What to bring: Water bottle and comfortable walking shoes.

Walk: Approx. 2km walk to VU Whitten Oval which should take around half an hour. All levels of walkers welcome!

Return trip: Walkers to make their own way home from the ground after the game. Train station is next to oval for quick trip back to Footscray or we encourage walking back to Footscray with a buddy if your energy levels are still high.
