The Western Bulldogs have suffered their first loss of the 2019 AFLW season, falling to North Melbourne in Tasmania.

A dominant second quarter, and a four-goal performance by debutant Courteney Munn, helped the Kangaroos run out 31-point winners.

The Bulldogs were competitive for three quarters, but the damage was done in the five goal to nil second term, which set up a 30-point lead at the main break.

The Dogs fought out the game strongly, and got to within three goals when Katie Brennan produced a brilliant snap from the forward pocket with plenty of time remaining in the last term.

However, any hope of a comeback was snuffed out when Munn added two goals in a row to effectively end the contest.

Monique Conti led the way in the ball-winning stakes for the Bulldogs with 17 disposals, while the ever-productive Kirsty Lamb (15 possessions) and Ellie Blackburn (14) worked hard throughout.

Katie Brennan, at times playing higher up the ground than usual, won 13 disposals to go with her third goal for the season.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back when they return home to face Brisbane next week, in a rematch of the 2018 Grand Final, at VU Whitten Oval on Saturday, February 23.
