The Western Bulldogs swooped on former GWS Giant Tom Boyd during the 2014 Trade Period.

In a blockbuster deal, it was announced that Bulldog Ryan Griffen would be traded for Boyd.

Under the deal, Griffen and the Dogs' first pick (No.6, later used by the Giants to select Caleb Marchbank) were sent to GWS in return for Boyd.

Boyd had played nine games at the time and was only 19 years old.

With great expectations placed on him as a former number one draft pick, Boyd delivered on those expectations in a magnificent 2016 finals series.

Boyd’s dominant performance against the Swans in the 2016 Grand Final will long be remembered by Bulldogs’ fans – he kicked three goals, took six big contested marks and claimed third spot in the Norm Smith Medal voting.

After missing much of the 2017 season, Boyd played 12 games in 2018.  Although he missed the last five matches of the season with a back issue, it was a solid return to football.

At just 23 years of age, Boyd’s best football is still well and truly ahead of him.
