The Western Bulldogs have suffered a season-opening loss in their Saturday afternoon VFLW match against North Melbourne at Mission Whitten Oval.

Despite only a four-point difference in the second quarter, the Bulldogs fought long and hard but struggled to maintain momentum, as the visitors cemented their full-time lead 6.7 (43) to 10.5 (65).

While the game stats showed an even number of disposals between the two teams (211), North capitalised on their inside 50 (31-36) and hit out (26-37) dominance. 

Key standouts included Renee Saulitis’ back-to-back goals within the first quarter, while Sarah Skinner finished with 18 disposals and four tackles.  

The Bulldogs' next challenge will be the Casey Demons at Casey Fields from 11.05 am on Saturday, 30th of March.
