The Western Bulldogs have gone down to Williamstown Seagulls by 17 points on a sunny but windy Saturday afternoon at DSV Stadium.

With both sides looking to cement their place inside the top four, the Seagulls were too strong at home in the 6.6 (42) to 4.1 (25) affair.

The opening quarter was an arm wrestle, with the ball spending a lot of time in the middle as both teams applied strong defensive pressure to limit scoring opportunities.

Williamstown found another gear late in the second term to take control heading into the main break, before the Bulldogs responded with increased pressure and greater control after halftime.

Despite creating more opportunities in the third quarter, the visitors were unable to make the most of their chances in front of goal, allowing the Seagulls to maintain their advantage.

Williamstown held firm in the final term to secure the 17-point victory.

Jorja Livingstone saw her way to the top of the Bulldogs’ stats with 29 disposals and two goals.

Ellie Bishop was close behind with 22 disposals and three score involvements, with Sarah Sansonetti giving it her all with 10 intercept possessions and six tackles.

The Bulldogs look ahead to their home ground next week when they take on Essendon at Mission Whitten Oval in a Friday night showdown.
