Gardner arrived at the Kennel with Pick 6 overall in the 2019 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, in what was a whirlwind year for the Tasmanian. A Footscray-listed player at the start of the season, he made his AFL debut in Round 11 2019; a week after being drafted. Had previously spent three years on Geelong’s list, after being taken with pick 59 in 2015. Has played 53 games in the red, white and blue, including a career-best 22 outings in 2022.
