10 New Places to Visit in Ballarat

Wondering what to do in Ballarat?

From a new brewpub to candle making workshops, you’ve got plenty to look forward to when you’re in town next.

If you enjoy a good cold craft beer, then Ballarat’s newest brewpub, Aunty Jacks, is where you’ll want to be this weekend.
This popular watering hole combines quality beer and deliciously snackable food with hands-on workshops run by Ballarat’s Dr Beer. It’s the place you catch up with friends on the weekend, or to learn about all things beer.

Italian gets a modern twist at Ragazzone pasta and vino restaurant, which you’ll find right next door to Aunty Jacks.
So, after working up an appetite during Aunty Jacks’s Beer School, take a seat at this beautifully pastel pink-styled restaurant for a plate of pasta or two that will make even the fussiest of nonnas proud. Taking inspiration from classic Italian cuisine, the chefs have infused local produce to create mouthwatering plates of goodness that you’ll certainly want to snap a photo of for your Instafeed.

If sharing food is more your thing, then get your friends together for an evening of Korean-inspired snacks at Roy Hammond.
Pair your choice of Korean hot dogs, Bulgogi Tacos, Fried Chicken bao, rice paper rolls and pork dumplings with something from Roy Hammond’s impressive selection of gin, whiskey and wine.

Then continue the theme of impressive liquid at 18th Amendment Bar. Named after the Prohibition which made it illegal to sell or consume alcohol in America between 1920 and 1933, the hip venue takes patrons back in time to Chicago’s speakeasy bars.

The team at Lola have also opened a very cool cocktail caravan in their courtyard.

For those who enjoy unleashing their creative side, paint and sip (yeap we’re referring to wine) studio Pinot and Picasso has recently opened up shop in Ballarat and The Essential Candle Co is now running candle workshops.

And when you’re ready for some retail therapy, why not pick out a new indoor plant from When Polly Met Murphy, grab a handmade planter pot from Ivy & Coco and top off your presents (to yourself of course) with a new vintage tee from The Outpost.
