The Western Bulldogs will host Essendon in the first elimination final at UTAS Stadium in Launceston.

It will mark the first time the teams have met in a final for almost 70 years.

After slipping out of the top four, it will be a do-or-die final for the fifth-placed Bulldogs against the eighth-placed Bombers next Sunday afternoon at 3.20pm AEST.

The last time these sides met in a final was all the way back in 1953, with the Bulldogs getting past the Bombers by eight points in a semi-final.

In their most recent meeting – just three weeks ago – it was the Bombers edging out the Bulldogs by 13 points at an empty Marvel Stadium.

Both teams have played one game each at UTAS Stadium this season – against Hawthorn.

Crowds will be able to attend the match, with Channel 7 and Fox Footy to broadcast it live.

Match day ticket information for all games of Week One of the 2021 Toyota AFL Finals Series will be announced tomorrow, Monday August 23.
