Western Bulldogs 8th (5-4) 88.2%

Brisbane 2nd (7-2) 195%

LAST MEETING

Round 4, 2019

Western Bulldogs 2.5 (17) def. by Brisbane 7.7 (49)

Over three years have passed since these two sides last met in a match for premiership points – and it was the visitors who earned some retribution over the Bulldogs. Playing at VU Whitten Oval in the highly anticipated 2018 Grand Final rematch, the Lions’ composure and ball-use was too clean for the hosts. Ellie Blackburn was named best-on-ground for her side, despite being stretchered off early in the final term, while ex-Bulldog Monique Conti (19 disposals, four tackles) and midfield bull Kirsty Lamb (10 disposals, three tackles) battled hard.

TALKING POINTS

Life on Mars

For the first time in the competition's five-year history, the Bulldogs will host a home AFLW game at Mars Stadium. A happy hunting ground for the AFL men’s team – having won four of their past five games there, the AFLW program will be hoping they can continue that winning form. Coming off a 10-goal win over West Coast should leave them full of confidence too.

Nothing to lose

The Bulldogs will enter Sunday’s clash with nothing to lose. Needing Richmond to upset Collingwood the day prior - and beat Brisbane themselves to qualify for finals - even if results don’t go their way, it will be a great opportunity to finish the 2022 on a high while carrying momentum into season seven.

Celebrating the Community Foundation

The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation will act as the match-day partner this weekend. A chance to celebrate the work of the Foundation across Melbourne’s western suburbs, fans will have the opportunity to hear from Community Foundation participants, visit the Fan Zone and go in the running to win a signed AFLW Bulldogs guernsey. Youth Leadership Project participant Eva will also toss the coin, while several program participants will form part of the guard of honour.
