The Western Bulldogs have suffered a triple-figure loss in their round five VFLW clash against Hawthorn at VU Whitten Oval.

The Bulldogs looked composed with the ball in hand early, with Mary Sandral slotting the first goal of the game in the opening minute.

But it didn’t take long for the fourth-placed Hawks to pounce, kicking 11 goals from 21 straight scoring shots.

The Bulldogs were able to slightly stem the bleeding in the third quarter, showing plenty of promise despite a lack of reward on the scoreboard.

Lucy Schneider (21 disposals, five marks), Melanie Freeman (15 disposals, six marks) and Tahlia Meier (16 disposals) impressed for the red, white and blue, while skipper Riley Christgoergl (13 disposals, five marks) was valiant in defence.

AFLW-listed Bulldogs Elizabeth Snell and Jemima Woods were solid, registering 13 and 11 possessions respectively.

There will be a competition-wide bye next weekend, with the Bulldogs to face Darebin in round six the week after.

The details of that fixture will be confirmed in due course.
