Star midfielder Adam Treloar believes the Bulldogs’ best football can match it with any team this finals series.

Despite their inconsistency throughout the season – which Treloar acknowledged when fronting media on Tuesday – he said the group is full of confidence ahead of their away Elimination Final against Fremantle next weekend.

“The teams that we have beaten this year – we beat Melbourne and we beat Sydney earlier in the season - gives us great confidence coming into the finals series that when we do play our best footy, and maintain that style of how we want to play, we’re able to go against anyone,” Treloar said.

“To be honest, we played really poorly against Fremantle only three weeks ago, so it’s nice to know we can play a lot better than what we did.

“Hopefully we can have a successful finals series. We’re not capping ourselves – we feel like we can match it with any of the teams.”

Another aspect that falls in the Bulldogs’ favour is their abundance of recent finals experience, compared to their Fremantle counterparts.

“A lot of guys in our team have that finals experience – that’s the beauty of our group at the moment,” Treloar said.

“There’s a lot of players here that played in the 2016 premiership and were also part of our run last year

“(Similarly to this season), we didn’t finish last year the way we wanted to. We lost the last three games and gave up that top four opportunity and had to do it the hard way - which we did.

“We obviously played down in Tassie, and then were able to beat Brisbane and Port Adelaide on their home decks so the belief is well and truly there.

“I know the last 4-5 weeks have been really up in the air because we weren’t sure if we were going to play finals or not, but we knew that if we could scrape in and pray that things go our way, that’s something we can rest on – knowing that we’ve been able to get there in this fashion.”

The Bulldogs will meet the Dockers at Optus Stadium on Saturday 3 September at 6.10pm AWST (8.10pm AEST).

The match is currently sold out. Should further tickets become available as a result of unused allocations, they will be released via Ticketmaster on Wednesday 31 August at 11am AWST (1pm AEST).
