Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli led from the front on Thursday night and both coaches agreed, with the midfielder polling maximum votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.

Bontempelli finished with 28 touches in a stellar performance, willing the side over the line for a vital victory against Brisbane.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan capped a difficult week with five goals and seven coaches votes, playing his best game in the red, white and blue.

Tim English and Bailey Dale claimed two and one vote respectively to round out a strong performance for the Bulldogs.

Bontempelli has moved inside the top 10 for the award with 14 votes overall.
