Footscray has returned to the winners list with a comfortable 58-point win over Geelong at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs were hot out of the blocks, holding the visitors goalless to half-time which all but sealed the 15.18 (108) to 7.8 (50) triumph.

Josh Chatfield opened the Dogs’ scoring account six minutes into play, before senior-listed players Cody Raak, Hayden Crozier and Rhylee West added their shares.

The majors kept coming through Mitch Hannan and Joel Garner throughout the second term, before the Cats broke through after the main break.

Conceding three of the final four third-term goals flattered Geelong heading into the final break, but the hosts had done more than enough to run out 58-point victors.

Skipper Lachie Sullivan found plenty of the footy, finishing with 35 disposals, six tackles and eight clearances, while Robbie McComb, Ewan Macpherson and Luke Cleary all collected 24 touches each.

Hannan added three goals to his season tally, alongside Chatfield who also contributed three.

West finished with two goals from 15 touches and six marks.

The Bulldogs’ next challenge will come against Frankston in a weeks’ time.
