Western Bulldogs trio Cody Weightman, Bailey Smith and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan have been recognised in the AFLPA’s 22under22 squad of 44 players.

If selected in the final team, it would mark Smith’s fourth consecutive appearance, and maiden inclusions for Weightman and Ugle-Hagan.

Smith, 22, has played 17 matches this season with an average of 24 disposals, 3.5 marks, 3.2 tackles and 3.8 clearances.

22-year-old Weightman has averaged 10.6 disposals and 3.1 marks from his 16 games, and is also closing in on his career-best goal tally with 31 majors for the season.

Ugle-Hagan, 21, has enjoyed an impactful 2023 season, averaging 11.7 disposals and 5.4 marks to go with a total of 31 goals from 20 games.

The fan-voted concept was introduced to the men’s competition in 2013 to reward young players aged 22 and under who make an impact on their club and the wider competition.

Voting is open now until August 17, with the final team to be announced via the AFLPA social media channels on August 23.

For a player to eligible in the squad, they must have played 50% of the season, equating to 12 matches.
