Footscray have enjoyed a come-from-behind win at Mission Whitten Oval, defeating Casey by 18 points in Round 7 of the Smithy’s VFL.
After a see-sawing opening half, the hosts trailed by eight points heading into the final change.
But it was all Footscray in the end, resulting in a 12.8 (80) to 9.8 (62) win.
Captain Dan Orgill kicked off proceedings with a tidy set shot goal, with Luke Kennedy joining him on the goalkickers list not too long after.
It was a tight tussle across the first half, with Chan Hargraves’ first goal putting the Dogs one-point ahead heading into the main break.
Casey pulled away in the third term, kicking four quick goals early in the quarter.
But the last 10 minutes of the third proved important, with Lachie Smith, Kennedy and Hargraves all nailing their chances in front of goal.

That momentum continued into the fourth, with Cooper Hynes and Will Lewis getting on the board, but it was Kennedy who had the play of the day with a magnificent move on the boundary line for his third.

Hargraves got into space to kick two more goals in the final term, making it eight majors in a row for the Dogs.
Casey kicked two goals late in the final term, but left their charge a touch too late.
Kennedy was dominant with 29 disposals and three goals, including an absolute stunner from the pocket, while Taylor Duryea impressed with 32 disposals and a number of impressive defensive efforts.

Good luck getting around Taylor Duryea. pic.twitter.com/0QDSVZsK55
Jedd Busslinger and Oskar Baker were late withdrawals as the travelling emergencies for the AFL side, which allowed Diesel Moloney and debutant Matthew Belbasis to come in.
Belbasis looked composed in his first game, finishing with 11 disposals.
The ’Scray will next meet Williamstown at DSV Stadium on Saturday 17 May.
