On Adam Treloar and Liam Jones:

“He’s okay – it wasn’t a major injury, but I wouldn’t imagine he’d play before the bye. We’ll be a little conservative with him to make sure. We might be a chance to get him back in the game after (the bye).

“I don’t think Liam will be right next week, but he’s probably about the same timeline as Adam.”

On preparing post-Darwin:

“We didn’t do a lot different going up to Darwin. I mentioned last week that the first five rounds we played in some heat down here, whether it was under the lid or in Norwood. Even Optus in WA was in the 30s.

“We weren’t used to the heat, but it didn’t feel like it was such a huge difference in the game. It was good to see our boys come back at the end of it.”

“We needed a little bit of down time so spent about 80 hours away from the Club. We had a good session on Wednesday and should go into tomorrow night feeling pretty fresh.”

On returning to Marvel Stadium:

“I try not to make a big deal out of it. In this competition – since it became national – you need to be able to win interstate and rise to the top.

“We’ve lost a few close ones that we’ve been a bit frustrated with. I suppose the risk with human nature is to fall into that complacency…‘oh we’re playing at home now so we’ll be fine’ – maybe we won’t be.

“It could come back to bite you…if we have that mindset. So we're not really making a big deal of the fact that we've probably got a lot of Marvel games in the back end of the year.

“Obviously there’s one this week, we just have to take it week-to-week. It doesn't matter where we play.”

On managing players at this point of the season:

“Well, in a sense, it's probably harder when the bye isn’t coming up. I haven't been a manager or a coach that has a strategic sort of plan to rest your more experienced players. Sometimes you get one out of turn anyway, and it's sort of it's not disguise – it just happens. They might be a bit sore and they come out, but we're just not in that in that situation.

“Tom (Liberatore) has been durable and resilient over his career…he’s obviously had some major injuries, but he seems to be coping with the load. He's having an outstanding year.

“The test will be the one after this on a five-day break – on a Thursday night.”

On Arty Jones:

“He's had three really good weeks (in the VFL) and forced his way into the team. As I said to him when we gave him the news, this isn't a charity selection. He’s not getting a game just because he’s a First Nations lad – he’s earned it.

“It’s a healthy irony that he's playing this round though, in Sir Doug Nicholls Round. He gets to wear the Indigenous guernsey which is fairly creative and exquisite. The boys enjoyed wearing it last week.

“It's a good one that we'll wear against Geelong - the white version of it that we'll wear the following week too. So I think he feels pretty special, and wants to represent (his family).”
